The T20 leagues are expanding around the world and there seems to be a major shift in the way cricket competitions will be held in the future. List of tournaments like Pakistan Super League, Indian Premier League, Big Bash League, South Africa and UAE are now starting their own T20 cricket leagues.
With so many franchise leagues all over the world, with most of them generating huge commercial interest, several experts predicted that cricket could be going the way of football with players engaging mostly in club competitions.
The India's1983 World-Cup winning captain, Kapil Dev thinks that finance generated by T20 leagues should be utilised to conserve Test cricket. Dev added that it is the responsibility of the ICC to ensure the survival of Tests and ODIs. Dev added that Club Cricket is ok for a while, and the Big Bash is ok, with the South African league and UAE league still coming to their peak. He added that if all countries play club cricket, then international cricket should be left for World Cup.
