The Spanish team advanced to the semifinals after big drama

The Spanish national team is one of the favorites to win the Olympic gold medal in Tokyo. After beating Ivory Coast 5-2, they made it to the semifinals. It was an interesting match, as the Spanish team reached the semifinals only in overtime.

The national team of Ivory Coast had the advantage at the beginning of the match when Eric Bertrand Bailly scored a goal in the 10th minute. Twenty minutes later, Dani Olmo scored for 1: 1, and there were no goals in the second half of the game until the first minute of the referee's extra time. The situation began to change when Max-Alain Gradel scored for the Ivory Coast lead 2: 1. But two minutes later, Spanish player Rafa Mir equalized.

After that, the match went into overtime where Mikel Oyarzabal Ugarte scored in the 98th minute. Rafa Mir confirmed Spain's placement in the semifinals with two more goals. In addition to allowing his team to move on to the competition, he also scored a hat trick.

Spain will play against Japan in the semifinals. The home team qualified for the semi-finals after a 1-0 victory against New Zealand. Anything is possible so it’s not thankful to predict who will qualify for the finals, especially after Spain struggled against the Ivory Coast.
