How Klopp inspired Liverpool for Newcastle United victory
Jurgen Klopp revealed that he had to encourage Liverpool to be a bit more patient with the ball to succeed in their dramatic victory over Newcastle United. The Reds have avoided dropping more points in the early stages of the Premier League title race, with a 2-1 victory against the Magpies at the Anfield stadium.
Liverpool still needed a 98th-minute intervention from substitute Favio Carvalho to earn all three points. The Reds were well below their best during the first half and they went into the break behind after Newcastle striker Alexander Isak scored during his debut. However, the message from their boss in the dressing room at halftime eventually made a result.
Roberto Firmino was the person who equalised the home side in the 61st minute before Carvalho's goal with the last kick of the game sent the Kopites into raptures. While he wouldn't want every game to get into the wire, Klopp has relished the magnificent ending. He told the media that it was a magnificent game, very passionate and with aggressive defending from the opponent. It was difficult to pick up a rhythm but once they started, everything set in its place.
