Did you know that one of the toughest positions in the NFL is cornerback? Furthermore, athletes who play in this position are usually of smaller stature, but they are also the most talented players. Among them is Amani Oruwariye, a famous American cornerback originally from Detroit.
Amani Oruwariye spent three years in Tampa, Florida, and as a senior, he was selected as MVP and invited to the Hillsborough County All-Star Game. It was rated three stars out of all four major recruiting services. Rivals and 247Sports ranked it among the top 100 potential candidates from Florida. Amani did his first real freshman year at Penn State after which he appeared mostly in special teams during his first year. In 2016, Amani recorded his first interception against Kent State.
He ended the season with 23 tackles. A year later, Amani was becoming more and more popular, mostly due to four interceptions. Furthermore received recognition from the media and coaches. He played in all Penn State games except one where Pen achieved his first Fiesta Bowl victory. The great streak continued the following season when he started in each of the 12 games tallying a career-high, picking off three passes. Amani was drafted by Detroit in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL draft. Certainly one of the most talented players ahead of many more seasons of playing in the NFL.
